2010 Father & Son Outing

This weekend was our annual Father and Son Outing. Adam was so excited to go he had been talking about it for weeks. I asked him to make a list so he didn't forget anything. Here's a picture of the list he made, not to forget his Blues Clues blanket, fluffy socks, skittles and twizzlers, a stuffed animal, and of course don't forget yourself:-)

The weather started out really nice, but we knew the forecast wasn't great so we thought we might get some rain. We ended up getting snow!

There were a lot of people at the campout and never once did I respond when he yelled..."Dad!!". He caught on quick and would yell..."Ryan Paul Penhallegon!!". Then I would go see what he was up to. I think one of his favorite things he did was play cards friday night by the light of the lanterns. He was so proud that he learned how to play California Speed, it was a new game for him. Some kids came up to him and said, "what you playin?", and he confidently said, "Colorado Speed". That made a few people laugh.

We knew breakfast was going to be served at 7am and we didn't want to miss that. Adam was up at the first hint of daylight, which must have been around 5:30am. I kept saying, "Adam go back to bed, I promise it's not 7am yet." By the time we actually got up, it was 6:45am and snowing. We woke up to a nice hot breakfast and some hot chocolate. By the time breakfast was over we got back to our tent and the snow had collapsed it. Good thing we weren't in it at the time.

By 8am we had eaten breakfast and already packed the car. We were home by 8:45am and when we got home, everyone was still asleep. Goldilocks and little bear were still asleep in my bed, so I snuggled right in with them and didn't get out for a couple of hours. The weather played a trick on us this year but we had all the skittles and twizzlers we needed to survive any snowstorm. Ok I take that back due to the tent situation. I should restate that, thanks to skittles, twizzlers, cookies, our favorite baked lays, all you can eat pumpkin seeds, and other various junk foods and a cruddy tent, we barely survived the smallest of snow storms.

Spring Dance Recital

Here's Lucy on Stage before her perfomance. She's has been so excited to show mom and dad what she has been learning. She looks pretty confident here, but I don't think she realizes what she's about to do in front of a crowd of 200 people...

The Wiggles

(Londyn was in charge of the recording... so this is what we got... Oh, boy)

This was the 2nd of 2 songs they performed. The 1st song she barely went out on stage. She was so shy and just stood there with her finger in her mouth staring at all the people. I guess she didn't realize how many mom's and dad's would be there. It was a big production (well, for Santaquin anyway). So all the age groups were perfoming for the Spring recital. Luckily she got up the nerve for this song. It was a good opportunity for her and she wants to continue taking dance. We'll see.... as it can be an expensive hobby for a 3 year old.

Happy Mothers Day

All I ask for on Mother's Day is no cooking and cleaning and a picture with my kids. I've learned that if I don't have any expectations then it turns out to be a great day. And it really was. Definitely the most beautiful weather of the year. I believe Heavenly Father really loves mothers and wants to help us in raising His children. Actually, I can't remember there ever being a bad weather day on Mother's day. Anyway, the kids humored me with a picture before church. Adam's mood can change on a dime, so he is happy in this first picture, but lost "it" afterwards, and at church, not wanting to be there. So, Ryan quickly taught him a lesson after Sacrament meeting and took him home to shovel horse manure for the next 4 hours. He was a much more pleasant boy after that, and hopefully next Sunday will go more smoothly.

Towards the end of the day, the weather was my favorite... overcast, yet perfect temperature, and no wind. I was in heaven rocking my baby on the front porch, watching Lucy play in the water while Londyn took pictures. We mother's have the hardest job in the world, but the BEST. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love being a mother!!!

Fire Pit Fun

Since Ryan goes on so many campouts with the scouts, the kids don't want to miss out, so they build their own fire and want to set up tent, but still too cold at night. Kids and fire go together like kids and water. They love it and gives them something to do while dad's gone on a Friday night.

Smiley Isaac

Well, after 2 1/2 months things are looking up... Should I say he's getting a little easier? I don't know. (knock on wood) I still try to stay home as much as possible, but the last couple of outings have been pretty manageable... tolerating being in his car seat/falling asleep instead of screaming. And, I am thankful for my nights. Even though he sleeps right next to me with feeding interruptions, we sleep all night, so I can make it through the day. He's turning into a very happy boy with lots of smiles. He started interactively smiling at 6 weeks, and it's fun to see more and more with each passing week.
